Newbie Frustration
Today is my 12th day on the HCG diet. I have been feeling pretty good, not too hungry and following the protocol. I have lost 12lbs so far. This week I hit a stall which may be due to my menstral cycle. No loss in 3 days and actually showed a gain of 1lb this a.m. Should I do an apple day? I am getting a little frustrated because I have done so many diets and being on this VLCD and not seeing a loss this week is hard. I even told my hubby I want to give up. Any encourgement would be welcomed. Also have you guys ever wondered why it is so expensive to go the grocery store and by health items vs junk food? It's crazy! Thanks for listening....

I totally get you! Both the fustration in not losing and the $$ at the grocery store. I have had to change my attitude so that I am not disapointed when I don't lose. Seems that I do not lose on a regular, steady basis like some do (ie: up to a pound a day). I tend to lose a couple or more, then level out for a few days. Or even gain a little bit. I have to chalk that up to water retention and sleep patterns. So I understand when you say "you want to give up." But don't! Look at the big picture. How else would you possibly have this kind of loss in such a relative short time? I've gone the old-fashioned way with diet and excercise and I would be lucky if I lost 2 lbs a week. Usually it was one. So, with that in mind.... Keep going. But sometimes I wonder too... "Am I doing this right?" This week has been hard for me also.
Now as for the $$ at the grocery store -- Seriously!! I read that you'll save so much money on this diet. But NO, I've gone organic/natural for meats and some veggies and seems like I'm spending at least as much as before, if not more. But I am convinced that it is worth it. I already feel so much better. I am about half-way to my goal and that makes me so happy. And to quote my Grandmother... "Better to spend your money at the grocery store than give it to the doctors and hospitals." Food is medicine and we are taking excellent, preventitive care of ourselves by eatting clean.
Keep up the good work!

Hi Minnie,
I am doing the HCG program under a physician's supervision, and he provides us with the following helpful hints to break a plateau:
01) Increase your water intake to 3 to 4 quarts per day. But remember, it is essential that you drink at least 1/2 ounce of water per pound of body weight daily. Try drinking 8 ounces of water right after you weigh in each morning and before you go to bed each evening, and keep water nearby during your entire day to ensure you drink it all day long.
02) Try increasing your protein by 1/2 ounce per serving.
03) Try an "apple only day". Eat only apples for one day. Eat a minimum of six apples during the day. It seems to stimulate fat burning.
04) Try cutting your beef consumption down or eliminating beef for a couple of days. (American beef is often high in fat content or synthetic hormones).
05) Carefully check all seasonings to make sure they do not contain any form of sugar.
06) If you have been mixing vegetables, stop. For example, eat cucumbers only for lunch and tomatoes only for dinner.
07) Avoid any and all kinds of carbohydrates or starchy foods.
08) Eat organic! Make sure there are not any additives to your protein sources. Sometimes these foods are injected with sugar that will interfere with weight loss.
09) Drink 2 tablespoons of apple cider vinegar (organic is best) diluted in a glass of water each day. Adding some Stevia helps with the taste.
10) Check your medications. If you started any new medications or supplements, it will take your body a few days to adjust.
11) If using HCG drops, consider increasing the frequency of the drops to three times a day, instead of twice a day, for a few days.
12) Add low impact exercise, such as a brisk walk, yoga, or any type of exercise. Add 15 minutes of activities to your day a few times a week. Any activity that raises the heart rate helps if done throughout the day.
13) Get enough sleep: a minimum of 7 to 8 hours per day is needed. Not getting enough sleep can have a negative impact on the scale.
I hope this helps you. Don't give up!!!

Thanks everyone for those words of encouragement. I won't give up (atleast not yet) ha! I will try some of the suggestions and see how things go next week. I was planning on doing a 40 day round but I may cut that down to 28-30 days. How many days are most of you doing? It probaly is easier to start another round when they are a little shorter. So once I finish P2 I should do atleast 3 weeks of maintenance? Then I would go into the next round right? The main anxiety comes from once I reach my goal, to MAINTAIN. I started at 269 and hoping to get down to atleast 180. Then I may set a new goal to go a little lower. I haven't been 180 in about 4-5 yrs. I gained a lot of weight from a injury I suffered in 2007. As a result I had a spinal fusion surgery so my activity and exercise is limited. That's why I thought this was the perfect program. Keep all the info coming....

I am doing 40 days because of the amount that I need to lose. Right now my doctor has me on a 10 day detox (only 3 more days to go!) then I start my "load" days and my HCG injections. I can't wait! Right now I weigh 234 and my goal weight is 165, so my doctor says I need to do HCG injections for 40 days, go off of it for 24 days (Phase 3), then do another 40 day HCG cycle. My doctor said I should be at my goal weight by May. I still can't wrap my brain around that...

You can do this. I started at 241.8 and now weigh 159 and I can't believe it! It's been a year since I started and I only used the drops but it worked for me doing 27-34 days, I'd just go with my schedule. My mind still hasn't caught up to being this size as I haven't been this size in 30 years so it's quite a shock to the brain. My clothes and the people around me keep reminding me about it and being called skinny feels like such a joke but okay
You're going to love being healthier and smaller. Good luck to you!

Yeah, that post had me scratching my head as well. lol I am on P2 D day 5 and I'm down 11 lbs! I'm thrilled and the weight just seems to be dropping off me. I've read that people who lose quickly early on usually hit a stall day earlier on, so I'm preparing my self for an apple day if that occurs.
